This will be the first time an Indian state offers MBBS in Hindi from the 2024-2025 academic session, the third state to introduce medical education in a regional language, after Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Rajasthan MBBS 2024: Hindi Medium Medical Education

On Hindi Diwas, or September 14, the state of Rajasthan declared that henceforth, MBBS courses would be conducted in Hindi too, in two medical colleges in Sampurnanand Medical College, Jodhpur, and Medical College of Barmer affiliated with Marwar Medical University. That change gives the students a choice to read through medicine in their mother tongue, making it easier to study and understand intricate medical issues. It is nevertheless an elective choice between English and Hindi, thus giving room to the students to make their choice according to preference.

This is part of the larger upward trend in India to make higher education, especially in fields of medicine, for instance, more accessible to larger demographic groups. Rajasthan MBBS Updates: Transitioning to Hindi Language Medical Colleges

The Rajasthan government stated that it would provide all the needed books and study material in Hindi, starting with the first-year MBBS curriculum. Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary of the Medical Education Department, referred to the fact that with two colleges already set for the transition and based on the demands of the students and the availability of resources and other factors, more colleges would also go ahead in the future.

It is the latest measure in the education policies of the state in response to an earlier promise in its budget to further push Hindi into higher education.
